Dear Heide,
The Vallejo website is done beautifully! Congratulations! If all of you can pull off this tremendous venture, it will be a gift for everyone who understands the history. Your vision is admirable!

As a child I knew Varda, or Yanko as we affectionately called him. A group of artists lived in Carmel, actually just south of Point Lobos. He would walk with me on the beach and tell me stories about "Ghosts of the Wharf". He knew how to count the waves (seven being the big one) and would draw a line in the sand telling me he would command the ocean to pass this line. Of course I believed he was magical! We also walked in the woods which was filled with Aminita Muscaria. The magic mushroom. They grew very large and he knew what they were.

So my family has some of his paintings and my mother knew him well as they were closer in age!
