Varda
met Virgina Barclay, several years his junior, at
the 'Art in Action' Fine Arts Pavillion at the 1940s
San Francisco World's Fair. They married shortly
after.
In
the 1950s the 'Arts and Crafts Movement' was in
its heyday. Pottery and Weaving were the biggest
elements of it. This is a picture of Varda and Virginia
in the Monterey Studio.
[Henry
Miller far right] Varda invited Henry Miller to
move to Big Sur. Miller was a guest in the 'Carriage
House' for about 3 weeks while looking for a place
of his own.
