Jean
Varda lived in the "unpainted shacks at Crinkles
Corner" and on coastal property in Anderson
Creek Valley but after WWII began Varda was forced
to move inland because he was an "alien".
Varda and Virginia lived in two places before moving
into the "Carriage House" pictured above.
One was the Red Barn which sat "uncertainly
atop a small rise above Cannery Row with the glittery
blue and white bay beyond." [1]
Inside
the barn included this room with fireplace. It is
said that Varda pioneered this stlye of fireplace;
the hovering hood above an open 360 degree hearth.
