THE
HULL OUTSIDE
| Wayne
Licina of American Oceanics, was hired in May 1999 to
give an assesment of the Vallejo's hull. He did the inspection,
observing the massive corrosion at the waterline, and
remarked, "This boat could go in the Guinesses Book
of Records for having the most patches and still floating." |
|
Fortunately,
the Vallejo sits in the mud at low tide, so when
she sinks (7 times in 5 years) generally no water
comes above the deck.
Large bilge pumps are rented and she is bailed
out and the largest culprit leaks are patched
in a way with cement. See Hull
Inside for details.
