CLEANING
THE HULL
| Basically
the hull was the grossest place on earth. |
|
|
| Years
of microcosm freedom feeding on raccoon shit, long forgotten
stored items, duck poop, pigeon poop, the fowl waters
of the bay, garbage, an debris of various and sundry accumulation
had all piled up in a very unhealthy and uninhabitalbe
way. |
|
And it all had to be washed and hauled by hand. |
 |
The results are a dry old corroding
icky place, but it is much less icky than before.
In fact, it is clean in it's own way. The job was
done with care and respect for the boat an now the
workers can go about repairing the holes. |
|
| The writer's way is rough and lonely, and
who would choose it while there are vacancies in more
gracious professions, such as, say, cleaning out ferryboats?
