Thoeried
to have been saltwater feed, the water boiled in
pipes which heated the air which drove the pistions
in the engine which turned the paddle wheels.
The interior pipes have all disintegrated and
collapsed into a near petrified heap.
Like the rest of the unwanted stuff down
there, it was shoveled into buckets and carried
out by hand. The pile shown here was one of
many.
